Smoky Mountains In The Spring

Ahhhh, it’s FINALLY spring in the Smoky Mountains. It seems like it’s been a really long winter (it always does), but in reality it was a pretty warm winter. And now that Spring has finally arrived, things are all weird with this Coronavirus. Everyone is supposed to stay far away from each other. Well, that makes things difficult when, like us, you like to get out and do things here in The Smoky Mountains. So what to do???

8 Things To Do In The Smoky Mountains Right Now

Here are some ideas of things you can do in The Smoky Mountains right now amid the Cornonavirus outbreak.

  1. Go on a wildflower hunt. From the smallest flowers in your lawn to wildflowers in Smoky Mountains National Park, they’re starting to bloom everywhere.
  2. Go for a hike in the woods. The whole area may be shut down because of Coronavirus, but nature is still open!
  3. Go for a drive. Little River Road (headed towards Cades Cove) is one of our favorite drives. It meanders alongside The Little River and is absolutely spectacular!
  4. Tour Cades Cove. It’s an 11-mile loop road that you tour in your car. Since we are social distancing right now, this is the perfect way to spend a day!
  5. Plant a garden. It may be a little early to plant all the plants, but you can spend some time preparing your beds and planning flower gardens. What a great way to bring some color into this dreary time!
  6. Count your blessings. Bring a chair to a quiet spot and just sit and think about how blessed we all are.
  7. Lend a hand. See what the needs are in your area. Groups have been started on Facebook for getting groceries or running errands for the elderly who shouldn’t be out right now. I am learning how to sew, so I am going to be making some masks to give away to hospital personnel or any other person who wants or needs one. Talk to your neighbors (from 6 feet away). See if they have a need.
  8. Support local businesses. As of right now, all bars are closed, and restaurants are to be at 50% capacity only. However, most restaurants are still doing curbside pick-up. Remember to support your local small businesses any way you can by still purchasing from them.
